It is becoming increasingly important for companies to engage themselves socially: Recently, Germany’s queer community has fallen victim to more and more hate crimes; thus, it is crucial for companies to take a clear stance.
Especially the online world has become a place in which queer individuals find themselves confronted with hate speech.
(Hate speech can be defined as strongly derogatory expressions regarding a person’s sexual and/or gender identity.)
Throughout the past pride seasons, there has been an increase in hate speech all over social media- within companies as well as in public online spaces.

In order to prepare for Pride Month 2024, we want to use this TOGATHERING to focus on strategies regarding defiances, as well as regarding hate speech in companies’ intranet: Which ways are there to deal with those issues? May there even be any positive takeaways?

With your help we are looking to find answers regarding questions such as:

• How are companies able to take a clear stance?
• At which point do simple opinions become hate speech? How are you supposed to deal positively with company-wide hate speech?
• Which strategies are you supposed to extract from your company’s stance? Which are the things you have to pay attention to?
• Before anything can happen: Which are preventive strategies comapanies can develop against hate speech? Which ressources do they need to do so?

We are looking forward to finding answers regarding those questions during our interactive TOGATHERING.
